Ray Plumlee's an American Odyssey

Traveling Webmaster's Deck Log

This is a copy of my old Deck Log (Online Journal). I am now using an online blog at my "Have Web Sites Will Travel" web site. I use it to chronolog my travels around North America (my American Odyssey).

This "Old" Deck Log is now only an archive of past postings. It tell's the reader where I have visited and what adventures I have had up til the time I started my blog on Have Web Sites Will Travel. This archive was written primarily from the perspective of a tourist. Not necessarily my work log though I may do some of that too, especially in those early days when I built the sites resouces. Initially I used it to detail my efforts in getting prepared for the adventure. Then I chronicled the adventure itself.

17 April 2004 (Kingsburg Car Show)

On my way to my Cousin Terrie's I stopped off at the Kingsburg, California 2004 Classic Car Show. Kingsburg is a theme town which has modeled itself after a Swedish Village. They call the tow the Valkommen Village. Below are a few pictures I took of the 2004 Valkommen Village Classic Car Show.

But the best of them all, in my humble opinion, is the 1957 Chevy.

17 April 2004 (Sequoia National Park)

After the 2004 Kingsburg Classic Car Show I met up with my cousin Terrie (Fox) Hylton and we took a drive up to Sequioa National Park. It was pleasnat until we got above about 5,000 feet. Then it began to snow. We were not in my truck but her PT Cruiser. So once we got to the Giant Forest we only stopped for a few minutes then turned back because the snow was sticking pretty good. Below are a few pictures I took.

Hard to see the Museum in the distance there but that is the Sequoia Giant Forest Musem. Remember today is 17 April so the snow is a little bit of a suprise

28 April 2004 (Great News On The Family Front)
I got a call today from my son Ray and daughter-in-law Jenifer. They are going to have a baby. Which means I am going to be a Grand Daddy. This is going to be my first grand child, so bare with me over the months if I get a little excited. The baby is due in January 2005 so I am mulling over the possibility (actually most likely) of spending the winter in either Boise or
Emmett, Idaho so I can be on hand for the big event. More later...

1 May 2004 (Six Months Since the Adventure Began!)  Milestone Alert!!!

Well today I passed the 6 month point in this adventure. I have been underway now for six months. So far the only thing that hasn't been more or less according to plan is the weather. More specifically the temperature. The two months I was in Phoenix were probably 10°F cooler than normal and the two plus months I have been in California have averaged 20+ °F higher than normal.

Sure makes my mission plan of "staying warm in the winter and cool in the summer" a bit hard to adhere to.
