Ray Plumlee's an American Odyssey
Traveling Webmaster's Deck Log
This is a copy of my old Deck Log (Online Journal). I am now using an online blog at my "Have Web Sites Will Travel" web site. I use it to chronolog my travels around North America (my American Odyssey).
This "Old" Deck Log is now only an archive of past postings. It tell's the reader where I have visited and what adventures I have had up til the time I started my blog on Have Web Sites Will Travel. This archive was written primarily from the perspective of a tourist. Not necessarily my work log though I may do some of that too, especially in those early days when I built the sites resouces. Initially I used it to detail my efforts in getting prepared for the adventure. Then I chronicled the adventure itself.

Took a day trip down to Tucson, looking for a place to stay after I leave Phoenix next week. I decided to stay about a week in Casa Grande, which is not close to Tucson, but is along Interstate 8. I plan to head west toward San Diego and want to minimize my back tracking with the trailer in tow. While in Casa Grande I will take a couple of day trips down to Tucson. I still want to visit the Titan Missile Museum just south of Tucson and possibly, if I have the time, I would like to make it over to Tombstone, Arizona (The town too tough to die). I may have to wait until I do a future southern Arizona pass either east to west or west to east.
While I was on this scouting mission I stopped by the Pima Air and Space Museum also known as the governments aviation "bone yard." Below are a few of the photos I took. The museum consist of dozens and dozens of retired aircraft from the U.S. government inventory. The range of aircraft include: attack aircraft, bomber aircraft, cargo aircraft, fighter aircraft, fire fighing aircraft, Soviet Migs, reconnaissance aircraft, refuling aircraft, seaplane aircraft, trainer aircraft, VIP aircraft and many examples of commmercial aircraft. It is a great museum and is well worth visiting if you are anywhere in the area. Must See!

Here is a shot of NASA's Super "Guppy." It was converted from a Boeing 377/KC-97 airframe. The 25 foot diameter of the Super Guppy's "body" is designed to handle oversized loads. It's no wonder that the Super "Guppy" was named that way - they look like a huge fish!

Today is Saturday and I am now well into a new Database enabled web site (PHP and MySQL) project for a client. Additionally, I was contacted by another potential client and we are now in the process of putting togather another Database enabled web site (PHP and MySQL) project.

Command Decision Alert! Things are a little busy just now plus I have come down with a cold. So I have decided to hang on another week, here in Phoenix. My next stop will be Quartzsite, Arizona. I now plan to depart for Quartzsite 26 February, instead of 19 February. This will give me the opportunity for another day trip down to Tucson (I have yet another potential client who wants to meet with me in Tucson). I still want to visit the Titan Missile Museum and Biosphere 2.
21 and 22 February 2004
Spent the weekend continuing to recuperate from my cold and working on my database project for a client. Also went through my basement storage area and pulled every thing out and restowed everything. This is the first chance I have had since I first stuffed everything in at the begining of this adventure. I found myself buying little odds and ends that I knew I had stowed somewhere. One thing you have to say about these RV's is that there is more places to stow things than you would ever imagine.
